Thank you for reading the latest newsletter from Ermine Primary.
Welcome back and Happy New Year. Thank you to all of you who have given me support as I have taken on the position of Acting Headteacher.
As you are aware Ofsted came to inspect us on the 28 November but as yet we have not had the report back. It takes a few weeks and with the Christmas holidays it has delayed it further. As soon as we have the report it will be shared with parents.
Further School Improvements
I have written to you all this term regarding some of the things we have changed or tweaked to ensure we are being as safe and secure as possible. Hopefully, the additional staff on duty, near the gates to the school, in the mornings and the afternoons have proven helpful and useful to parents. The school welcomes any feedback and suggestions, and thanks to one parent, we have been able to tweak procedures in Nursery.
Your feedback is always welcome; the new ‘parent forum’ is now running on a Monday morning from 9.00 am till 10.00 am, you are all welcome to join the Senior Leaders of the school for a chat or to discuss any concerns.
I would like to ask you to remind the children not to bring their pencil cases and own pens in as we are looking for consistent presentation in the books at school and all pens/pencils that are needed to write with are provided. I have discussed this with them in assembly.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to a fantastic day of festive clothing wearing! We raised £172.77 for the charity Save the Children on Christmas Jumper day.

Again, a big thank you to our EFG for continuing to support the school and run events, sell tea and coffee and uniform. The Macmillan coffee morning, organised and run by our EFG, raised an amazing £423.40. The Christmas Disco’s raised £678.00 so many thanks for the hard work that the Friends of Ermine do. If anyone would like to join the group please see Mrs Ray. See the diary dates for the next cake event, a good chance to practice your baking skills.
Please don’t forget you can check out the amazing achievements of our children every week by looking at our twitter and Facebook pages. Our children who achieve star of the week and those classes to have a fantastic week with attendance are always there! Click ‘like’ and re-tweet or share!
Please can we ask parents/carers to be mindful about where they park before and after school. There should be no-one parked on the zig zag lines and please do not block any of the residence driveways. Some of our parents have been very rude to members of the public who also use the pathways and road; it doesn’t make for a good example to our children when bad language is used outside of the school gates.
For those parents who drive their children to school please be mindful as to how you drive and park as we have had several phone calls from members of the public suggesting that speed is an issue and also letting the children out of the cars straight onto the road is a danger to our children.
