What is the pupil premium?

The government has allocated an amount of additional funding, “Pupil Premium” money, to each school.

The allocation is based on the number of children who have taken up their current entitlement to Free School Meals and also links to the “Ever six” children: this means any child who has taken free school meals in the last 6 years. Also, for children who are looked after and meet the criteria.

As a school we have to publish how we spend this money and how it links directly to progress and attainment particularly for our pupil premium children.

The current Pupil Premium for 2017-2018 is £271920. This money will be spent in a variety of ways in order to ensure our pupils receive targeted support to achieve their potential. As a school we feel that our most important resources for raising standard are the staff. We have therefore used the majority of Pupil Premium money to ensure pupils are receiving the intervention and support they require in order to make progress. These staff members will be used to support children in a variety of ways and this is detailed within our pupil premium spend.

It will be the responsibility of the Headteacher along with the pupil premium champion to report on Pupil Premium, this will be reported through the Headteacher report to the Governing Body. This will include the relevant strategies and the impact of these upon attainment and progress.
