Over the year we have many fundraising events to raise money to improve our school library and choice of books in school. Reading for enjoyment is something that we feel very strongly about at Ermine Primary Academy and we do lots to promote this. We have a classroom library in every class for free choice reading, our library is open every playtime for children to come and enjoy a book, we have banded books and Read Write Inc books for children to take home as well as running book fairs and regular events linked to reading. All of these options involve having a well-stocked and large collection of reading books for over 400 children in school to enjoy. This is where our events and fundraising days play a huge part, as without the money that is donated and made during these, more books and replacement books cannot be purchased.

Over the last three years, Roald Dahl days have raised over £600, World Book Days throughout the years have raised over £500 and last year we were part of the Waitrose Community Matters programme which raised £211. Our books fairs that have been running for the last 5 years have been a great success also in providing us with new books, as once we have received the total of sales we take a small percentage of the total to spend on books that are in the fair.

Although these totals are amazing and very greatly received, we still need to continue to raise even more money so that children can continue to be surrounded by high quality books to enjoy and love. Thank you for your support in our fundraising efforts for books and we look forward to raising even more money over the coming year!
